New member checking in

Postby jasont » Mon Sep 15, 2008 8:22 am

Just wanted to say hello and looking forward to being a part of the forum. I transferred over to America last year for work and prompted purchased a brand new vette. I am currently looking into bring it back home under the "Personal Import Rule" so I'm keen to see which companies people have dealt with in Australia.

Here are a couple of pictures.

Hi Jason and I'll join in and welcome you. As for a shipping company, I am bringing a car over with American Muscle Cars and can't speak more highly for the service I have had to this point, nothing has been a problem.

http://americanmusclecars.com.au/transport.htm

They came recommended from another forum member and I'm glad I went with Graham.

PM me if you want more details.

Cheers Smithy

Panther: Original plan was 3~5yrs, thus far its been amazing but I don't think I could last 5yrs over here.

Smithy: Thanks for the heads up.

G'day jasont, I also lived in CA (Santa Monica) for 3+years! I bought my C3 when I arrived and drove it everywhere then brought it back. Dont forget you will have to fork out $50,000 to convert it + probably the Luxury car tax + stamp duty when you register it here! Everybody wants a piece of you! The only thing you dont have to pay for when you have a personal import is the import duty! Thats why I bought a C3!

If you'll be in or near New York, do not hesitate to write. This goes without saying, obviously. But only to you 23BigA... and nobody else! :-x :-o :D

A mere wind-up, Professor A. :-x

In truth, if anybody in good standing from this forum intends to be around New York, I'd be delighted to meet for a lager or three. Or to show you some non-touristy bits of the town, if you'd like.

You're attending Corvettes at Carlisle in August 2009? And, as part of this, you'll be in New York?

Just give me a post or a PM a couple of weeks in advance, and we can sort a meeting time and place in or near NYC. Would be good fun.

One of my favorite things is walking around New York and - partly because I, too, am not originally from this town - I believe that a city walkabout a la Unsprung is illuminating for those who are visiting.
