C5 pull your codes

Postby Panther » Fri Nov 14, 2008 5:23 am

Pull your codes via the DIC

Turn the ignition on (don't start engine)

Clear any codes by hitting reset button

While holding the Options button press the Fuel button 4 times

the computer will then run through automatic displaying any codes, then it will go into manual, don't try writing the codes down till you get to manual, you may select a DTC module by pressing the options button to go forward and the trip button to go back, once you have selected the DTC and its is displayed say there is 2 codes, press gages to go forward and fuel to go back that will display them one at a time, write them down

They can also be reset by hitting the reset button, but will of course return if the issue has not been sorted

...Because that'd put a lot of mechanics, err, sorry; 'technicians' out of work!

The fault codes in modern cars DO tell you what's not working, just they do it in a form of flashes, like (this is just an example, not factual);
3 flashes = 'Code 161' which when looked up in the service manual = 'faulty Ignition module'...But yeah; there's certainly NO REASON they couldn't have it as an Alpha-Numeric display (LCD or otherwise) that simply shows the words 'faulty Ignition module'.
