But of heat on the rod and a 3 foot bar in the eye and the ends started turning and were able to be removed. Lock nuts wouldn't but doesnt matter for now as can attack them later.

Next fun find after the weekends run is the washer on the lower spring bushing seems to be rubbing on the tyre wall somehow, probably when the sidewalk flexes in cornering. Might have to wind up the nut and raise it a little to try and increase the clearance.
