Diff housing repair

Postby billet » Sun Oct 04, 2015 7:13 pm

Hi Guys. I think I found why my vette was parked up,with just 54,000 miles on the clock ...
The side yokes have eaten into the diff housing, I found out on the web that Chev had a problem with an outside supplier of the yokes in 78-80 not being hardened properly.
So my question is can the housing be repaired? I'm hoping and engineering shop can weld a collar on and then machine in the tolerances.
Next question does anybody know the actual thickness of the housing, say from the bottom of the seal housing out?

Thanks for any help you can offer, Bill
