Didn't even get to 1,300 miles before bending it.

That price seems too low to me for the visible damage. Am I missing something?

New and fully loaded, the ZR1 has an MSRP of less than USD 115,000, so I reckon that USD 97,500 (the "buy it now" price) is fair, given the damage.

Of course, I don't know the full extent of the damage, so I'm just guessing about what's fair.

One technical detail: Also note in these photos the impact structure that is mounted at the rear of the vehicle to absorb energy. The missing tail piece or cone that covers the rear is entirely urethane.

There is also a rain gutter that catches any water that rolls off of the hatchback (when you open it), but I'm unsure if the horizontal canal that we see on the left-rear fender is this rain gutter or not. I'll check on my (ordinary C6) car and let ya know.

Yeah, I guess I'm thinking of new price in Oz dollars which is closer to $160,000 plus say $50K for conversion and I don't know what for exporting costs.

I'm keen to include this RHD conversion topic in that ten-point "incomplete by design" summary of Oz. The one for visiting foreigners.

The craftsman side of this and the export side of this (to RSA, Japan, NZ and other such markets) are unique and interesting. Some good links out there on this topic.

Corvette Clinic is selling converted ZR1 package for between $300K and $350K (depending on the going exchange rate), but that's with their dealer's profit added.

The RHD conversion cost is around $50K. Mate in NSW Club just had his 2009 Z06 converted for $50K by Corvette Clinic. He bought the car in US himself, not via Corvette Clinic but used their RAWS.

If you use Unsprung's figure of US$115K new, then that's around AU$160,000. Add to that AU$50K for conversion = $210K. Plus shipping etc, say $10K, gives AU$220K if you buy in the US and ship it yourself.

Nah, got to add ripoff tax and duty. I'll look it up later on.

Okay, LCT ripoff above threshold since July is now 33%!!!, so working the numbers according to Customs site (and using mate's Z06 shipping and insurance cost of $5,200), it would be $243K out of customs. Add $50K for conversion and you get $293K on the road.

Now, using US$97,500 buy-it-now for the damaged one advertised on eBay, I get $254K on the road ... dunno about repair costs.

(using 70 cents exchange rate)
