C5 has arrived in Brissy.

Postby jjl » Wed Sep 05, 2007 7:38 pm

My new (to me) C5 frc has arrived and should clear customs etc sometime this week. It looks great and will have a spot in the garage next to the 73 convertible. All I have to do now is get another and I can get the missus' Beamer out in the weather where it belongs.

Red,
The car is going to Geoff Sutherland in Sydney. I think the company name is Torque Chevrolet. The company name registered on the Raws site is something else and the person is someone else. I do not understand the complexities of the system they have set up. All I care is that the car is done properly and promptly. That part of the equation is yet to be determined.

Australi, are you telling me that these dreams do not come true. That would be very sad.
I really want a C6 convertible and will be selling this C5 to help pay for it, unless I fall in love with this one.

What I mean is the plans to build yet another garage never seem to quite happen. I have 2 more I want built but time goes by and I still have 2 cars outside...

I will change the wheels. It is less trouble (so I was told) to bring the car in with std wheels and tires, so I did.
While on the subject of wheels, what size, offset etc will fit so I can start shopping.

Yes mate; I recently relaxed the link to ebay rule. Main reason for it was due to ebay items dissapearing once listing is ended and then we'd have a lot of dead links. Its fine though mate, thanks for asking. :D

Maxx, I have looked at the wheels and they certainly look good. I will watch the auction with interest. I am not sure what it would cost to ship a set of wheels down under. I will keep an eye out for wheels and tires as well because tires are really expensive here.
I saw an advert for the Workshop manuals (genuine ones) for a 99, can you tell me what a reasonable price is for them. I am not sure of the forum rules for prices etc, so just send me a pm if posting is an issue.
Thanks.

No mate, i mean Mercedes Benz, cause nothing is better than a Benz. Penta is a Volvo marine engine....

Hit Panther up before you do anything there mate, he may have some wheels for a C5 you might like, but if not, he is probably going to be the best way to get them over here if you buy something from overseas

The C5 looks great. :)
The guy who's been trying to sell these wheels also has some of the magnesium wheels. It may be worth giving him a phone call.
When I went to his workshop I was amazed at the stuff he had laying around. I saw plenty of wheels, including the magnesium ones, scattered around everywhere but I couldn't figure out whether or not he had a full set.
