Postby australi » Tue May 16, 2006 4:02 pm

HERE's a question FOR C5 owners only; What sort of fuel economy do you guys get? I've often wondered...

...I think he was talking about owners that DO drive their 5's :)

31? Yeah that sounds about right given my 4 has peaked at that - and the USA-MPG is even more when you convert it to Imperial :o

Correct: 1 Imperial Gallon = 4.55 litres.
1 US Gallon = 0.832 IMPERIAL Gallons or 3.785 litres.

GOD I wish all countries used the same units of measurements!
No wonder our currency exchange rates are so erratic!

I agree. Even though I have spent a large portion of my time using the various systems, it is still a pain. I lived in the UK during the time transition was beginning toward metric, and the confusion was rampant. We can't even agree on whether it is volume/distance or distance/volume. (l/100km or mpg)

Anyway, I was able to get over 30 miles per US gallon in my C5.

:D

I average about:

16mpg around Sydney suburbs (daily driver)
28mpg on a long trip
4mpg around the local race tracks

I just took my 01 C5 to Denver & back last week & cruise set at 84 to the airport & 86 back home...324 miles round trip I got an average of 34.9 MPG...I really can't complain about that....Really surprises people when I tell them...Kind of funny, I think most people think that vettes are gas guzzlers...IF THEY ONLY KNEW!!!

GDAY down under,
I will run about 28-31 MPG (US GAL), on the highway. Around town it's hard to figure because everyday you drive like the mood your in and the idiot that is following to close or wants the lane your in.

Also remember, MPG is one of the three greatest lies....... :) :) :D
